When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the kings and princes are home, When the shepherds are back with their flock, The work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, To heal the broken, To feed the hungry, To release the prisoner, To rebuild the nations, To bring peace among others, To make music in the heart.~ Howard Thurman

God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ, our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy
~ English Carol

A poem begins with a lump in the throat; a home-sickness or a love-sickness. It is a reaching-out toward expression; an effort to find fulfillment. A complete poem is one where an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found the words.  ~ Robert Frost

Beautiful organ music nourishes my soul in a way that almost no other music does.  I also love choral music.  But choral music is done with others. Playing the organ is a more solitary pursuit.

There is, however, an organization devoted to the organ which endeavors to bring organists into community with each other. The American Guild of Organists (AGO) serves approximately 20,000 members in 330 chapters throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Those who wish to sing always find a song. ~  Old Swedish Proverb

I was lucky. I grew up in a family of singers. I didn't always feel that way, especially when I was a teenager, but I have grown up some since. Now I am a believer in the power of a song to transform ourselves. Here are a number of reasons to sing. It's not exhaustive, but it's a good start.
