I. Purpose

The first principle of the member societies of the Unitarian Universalist Association is that we will covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We believe that this principle impels us to protect the privacy of visitors to the First Unitarian Universalist Church website (www.uurochmn.org) as well as that of our church members, friends, and visitors.

II. Use By Children

If you are under 18 be sure to obtain your parent's or guardian's permission before you send any personal information (for example, your name, address, e-mail address, etc.) to us or anyone else over the Internet. We encourage parents to get involved with their children's online usage and to be aware of the activities in which they are participating. See The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule ( COPPA).

III. Personal Information

A. We only collect personal information from our website visitors on a voluntary basis. Personal information may include name, address, phone number, and email address.

B. We use this personal information only to process requests that have been placed by the visitor. Examples are: requests for more information about our church, or requests for a church newsletter “The Venture.”

C. We do not sell, rent, or give any personal information to other organizations.

D. The following information can be posted without prior written permission of the person depicted or described:

1. Names, office phone numbers, extensions and First Unitarian Universalist (FUU) email addresses of staff persons (e.g. dre@uurochmn.org).
2. Photographs of staff members leading or attending a FUU event.
3. Narrative descriptions of events which contain the names of staff persons.
4. Staff-provided biographical information for publicity purposes.
5. First and/or last names of adult members when those members are designated as a contact person for a FUU event or activity.
6. Photographs of adults attending a FUU-sponsored event or activity, without identification by name.
7. Photographs and full names of board members of the church currently serving.
8. Calendar dates and locations of church meetings when the meeting is at the church.
9. Descriptive announcements of FUU-sponsored events which contain the names of persons in a leadership role, for example, a visiting speaker, musician, author, or local dignitary.

E. The following information must not be posted without prior written permission of the person described or depicted, using the release form. If the person is a minor, written permission must be received from the parent or legal guardian and placed on file with the church office manager.

1. Personal e-mail addresses of FUU staff persons, members, visitors, friends or anyone unrelated to the congregation (e.g. First.Last@yahoo.com).
2. Personal phone numbers of FUU staff persons, members, visitors, friends or anyone unrelated to the congregation.
3. Narrative descriptions of events which include the last names of persons (except as allowed in III.D).
4. Photographs of adults with accompanying names (except as allowed in III.D).

F. Whenever photographs of minors attending FUU events are published on the website, the following criteria must be observed:

1. No identifying captions will be used with any picture. In other words, no minor’s name will be published with his/her picture.
2. Parent/Guardian permission will be on file for all minors shown in pictures.

G. Information concerning individual birthdays, any individual’s age, wedding anniversaries, illnesses, deaths, marriages or health problems are not appropriate for posting.

IV. Use of Photos

A. We believe that the use of images of church activities and events is a valuable tool in creating an attractive, accurate, and relevant on-line representation of the First Unitarian Universalist Church (FUU). Therefore, we may occasionally include photographs of church activities on our website.

B. If you see a photograph of yourself or your child that you prefer not to be included on the site, or if you would like to insure that no photo of your child is used on the site, feel free to contact the webmaster. We will make all reasonable efforts to comply with your request.

C. All copyrights remain with the original photographer. Effort will be made to include credit to the photographer when known.

This web site contains some hyperlinks to web sites operated by parties outside of the www.uurochmn.org domain. These hyperlinks are provided for your reference only. Our congregation does not control such web sites and is not responsible for their contents. The inclusion of hyperlinks to other web sites does not imply any endorsement of the material on these web sites or any association with their operators.
